Shelby Amaral is a Behavioral Health Therapist at Community Health Northwest Florida who joined the organization in 2022. She earned both her undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from the University of West Florida.
Shelby is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and other modalities of therapy, including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). She specializes in trauma, specifically violent crime; sexual violence, adult survivors of child abuse and secondary victims of homicide.
The best thing about being a social worker? Shelby says it is “being in a position to hold space for people as they get to be their authentic selves.” She loves learning new things both related to therapy and in general. One great way to connect with others, she says, is to have them share something that they are passionate about.
In her leisure, Shelby enjoys listening to music, cooking new foods, and spending time with her rescue animals.

Pam Carr, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, began working with Community Health Northwest Florida (then ECC) in July 2014 under the BP grant through the University of West Florida, and In November 2014 officially came on board with the organization.
Pam received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She worked at the Mississippi Department of Social Welfare and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Pam says she “enjoys helping children find within themselves and their communities the ability to meet the challenges in their lives.”
In her spare time, Pam likes walking, being outside in nature, going to the beach, yoga, and spending time with her family and close friends. She sings in the choir at Christ Episcopal Church and serves on the Board for Episcopal Day School.

Dr. Juanita Fleming joined the Community Health Northwest Florida (formerly ECC) provider team in 2013, specializing in family medicine.
Dr. Fleming graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana and earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She completed her residence training at AHEC – Pine Bluff (Arkansas) and worked in Redfield, Arkansas and Pine Bluff, Arkansas for four years, before relocating to Pensacola. Dr. Fleming is board certified in family medicine.
Dr. Fleming received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2015, achieved Health Grades Honor Roll and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta.
One of the great joys of serving as a family physician, Dr. Fleming says, is being able to care for entire families in aspects of their lives.

Heidy has two advanced nursing degrees, one in pediatric clinic education and second one as a pediatric nurse practitioner. The best thing about her job, Heidy says, is working with children and their families. “I have always loved primary care,” she said. (Quoting Mahatma Ghandi) “’If you want real peace in the world, start with children.’”

A graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, Dr. Hernandez earned his post-graduate degree from NYU College of Dentistry. He completed his residency at LSU General Practice Residency.
Dr. Hernandez, who specializes in hospital dentistry for medically compromised patients, says the best thing about his work is performing dental surgery and complex extractions.
In his time outside of work, Dr. Hernandez enjoys watching Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes play football, visiting New Orleans and going to the beach. He is a huge fan of the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team.

John Lanza

John J. Lanza, MD, PhD, MPH, BSEE, MS, FAAP, FHPS is currently a full-time practicing, board-certified Pediatrician for Community Health Northwest Fl which is the Federally Qualified Health Center in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties in Florida.
Most recently, Dr. Lanza retired as the Director and Health Officer of the Florida Department of Health in Escambia County where he served in that role from May 1996 until August 2020. Previously, Dr. Lanza worked as a pediatric emergency department physician in Lakeland, FL and was in private pediatric practice in Longwood, Fl.
Dr. Lanza received his Bachelor of Science in Bio-Medical Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1975. He then received a Master of Science in Health Physics (1976) and a Doctor of Philosophy (1979) degree in Radiological & Nuclear Engineering/Medical Radiation Physics, also from the University of Florida. Dr. Lanza worked as a radiation physicist/nuclear engineer for the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Weapons Radiological Controls Program in the Washington D.C. area for three years. Subsequently, Dr. Lanza attended and graduated from the UTESA School of Medicine and then completed a three-year pediatric residency at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, Pensacola, FL in 1988.
Dr. Lanza is a board-certified pediatrician, a fellow of the America Academy of Pediatrics, a past president of the Escambia County Medical Society (2004), a longtime member of the Florida Medical Association (FMA), where he was the chair of the FMA’s Council on Public Health for eight years. He is a founding board member of the Florida Institute for Health Innovation. In addition, he is a former board member and a Fellow of the national Health Physics Society (HPS) where he founded the HPS Homeland Security Section. He was also the 2017-19 Secretary of the Florida Chapter of the Health Physics Society.
In 2002, Dr. Lanza completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University Of South Florida College Of Public Health. Currently, he is on the faculty of the MPH program at the University of West Florida’s (UWF) Department of Public Health in the College of Health as well as holding faculty positions at UWF’s Department of Movement Sciences and Health and the Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bio-remediation. He is also a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Florida State University College of Medicine (FSUCOM).
Dr. Lanza has numerous publications in the fields of health physics, environmental health, and public health preparedness. Most recently, he co-authored the National Council on Radiation Protection & Measurements Report 165, “Responding to a Radiological or Nuclear Terrorism Incident: A Guide for Decision Makers.” As a practicing public health pediatrician, he is interested in promoting a culture emphasizing healthy lifestyles so that our children and adolescents will develop into productive and physically and behaviorally fit adults. He previously authored an article in a special edition of the Florida Medical Association Journal “Healthiest Weight: A Life Course Approach” on overweight and obesity in adolescents and another article on "Radiological Incidents and the Florida Physician" .

Dr. Darrell Miller is the Chief Strategic Officer at Community Health Northwest Florida. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Auburn University in 1993 and his Doctor of Pharmacy from University of Florida in 1999. After working in the hospital and chain pharmacy industry, Dr. Miller began practice as an independent pharmacist where he eventually owned and operated several independent pharmacies in the Pensacola area.
Dr. Miller has received several awards and honors and held offices and appointments from the Florida Pharmacy Association and the Escambia County Pharmacy Association. Dr. Miller has been a contributor on the Healthy Living Segment of the local TV station and involved with many Pensacola community driven educational events. He is also a member of the American Society of Heath Systems Pharmacist and the American Pharmacist Association.
Dr. Miller serves as an Affiliate Assistant Clinical Professor at Auburn University College of Pharmacy and one of our PGY1 residency preceptors. He is also a trainer for the Point of Care Test and Treat program in Florida and holds an Apexus Advanced 340B Operations Certification.
Dr. Miller enjoys biking and hiking in the North Carolina Mountains, and golf.

He completed his Pediatrics residency through Eastern Virginia Medical School at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia.
Outside of his career he enjoys the outdoors with his wife and son. He has a lifelong love for fishing, and also enjoys time at the beach, boating, wakeboarding, and camping.

Dr. George Smith is presently Chief Medical Officer of Community Health Northwest Florida and has been with the organization (Escambia Community Clinics) since 1994. He attended the University of the West Indies in Kingston Jamaica where he received an MB. BS with honors in Community Health. He subsequently did a rotating internship and worked in ambulatory care at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Nassau Bahamas before his residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. There he was selected as Most Outstanding intern and served as Chief Resident. He is board certified in Family Medicine and is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was chosen as the 2006 Florida Family Physician of the year by the Florida Academy of Family Physicians. Before coming to Escambia Community Clinics, Dr. Smith was a Captain for two years at the 49th Fighter Hospital at Holloman Air force Base in New Mexico. He is past president of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and the Escambia County Medical Society.
He currently serves on the Florida State University College of Medicine Community Board for the Pensacola Regional Campus and the Northwest Florida Area Health Education Center Board of which he is a past president. Dr. Smith is an Assistant Clinical Professor with the University of Florida and Florida State University and teaches medical students, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the Florida Medical Association, and the Escambia County Medical Society. Dr. Smith has been on medical mission trips to Mexico, Nicaragua, Nepal, Egypt and the Philippines where he acquired additional skills working with culturally diverse populations. With over 30 years of outstanding leadership in the FQHC setting, Dr. Smith has spent his career caring for the medically needy, vulnerable and culturally diverse populations.

Dr. Stewart graduated from the University of Florida College of Medicine, after receiving a Bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida. She completed her residency at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, specializing in Pediatrics.
Dr. Stewart is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Escambia County Medical Society. She received the FSU College of Medicine’s Pensacola campus Guardian of the Mission Community Faculty Award in 2008-2009.
Dr. Stewart has practiced Pediatrics in the North Escambia and Santa Rosa counties since January 1999 and enjoys mentoring doctors and medical students in hopes they will develop an interest in serving people in small rural towns.
“The best thing about being a doctor for nearly 30 years are the bonds that are formed with the families over several generations,” she says. “Watching a child grow up to become the parent is one of the greatest blessings.”
In her spare time, Dr. Steward enjoys reading, watching movies and hanging out with friends on the weekends.

Delilah Stovall

Behavioral Health Therapist
Delilah Stovall, LCSW, is a Behavioral Health Therapist who joined Community Health Northwest Florida in the 2018.
During a clinical internship at CHNWF, Delilah received a Master’s degree in Social Work after earning a Bachelor’s degree, both from the University of West Florida. She completed her foundation internship at the Hope Medical Clinic in Destin, Florida, a non-profit organization and free clinic that serves uninsured and homeless patients in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
Delilah specializes in mindfulness skills, cognitive-behavioral therapy and LGBTQ+ affirming care. She was recognized as an Outstanding Social Worker in March 2022 by Opening Doors Northwest Florida.
She says, “The best thing about being a clinical social worker is the opportunity to walk alongside people during some of life’s most difficulty challenges or tragedies.”
In her leisure, Delilah enjoys playing video and tabletop games, such as Dungeons and Dragons, as well as watching motor racing events and basketball games with her partner.

Jason Strahan, MD, Pediatrics
Dr. Jason Strahan joined Community Health Northwest Florida provider team in September 2018.
He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, after receiving a Bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University.
Dr. Strahan completed his residency at the University of Florida at Sacred Heart Hospital. He specializes in treating attention-deficit/hyperact
ive disorder (ADHD) in children.
Dr. Strahan is a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics, the highest status of membership in the professional organization. He is board certified in pediatrics, which includes the academy’s benefits and privileges.
Dr. Strahan says becoming a pediatrician enables him to “guide and improve lives of children and young adults.”
In his leisure, Dr. Strahan enjoys watching movies, playing the guitar and beachcombing. He attends Woodbine Methodist Church.

Kesha is a Family Nurse Practitioner at Community Health Northwest Florida at Jackson Street and is currently serving as Director of Advanced Practice Providers-Adults. She is passionate about bridging the healthcare gap for the underserved and uninsured population.
A Pensacola native, Kesha received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of West Florida. After earning a Master’s Degree in Nursing from Georgetown University, Kesha joined CHNWF as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2014.
Kesha believes the best part of her work is being able to facilitate the changes to a patient’s plan of care and see the improvements in a patient’s health.
“I love that I am able to give back to the community that I grew up in,” Kesha says. “I grew up with minimal access to healthcare, and I am glad to be a part of a health system that provides accessible care that can help bridge the care gaps of our community.”

To Jessica, the best thing about her job is hearing and seeing the improvement in her patients and witnessing how committed they are to their care. Outside of work, Jessica loves to read and watch sci-fi movies and serves in the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Jessica says that her profession “chose” her – and she wouldn’t have it any other way!

Whitney worked at Sacred Heart Hospital before coming onboard at CHNWF. She is a member of the American Association of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Diane Wilkinson

Lead Attending Pediatrician
Diane Wilkinson joined the Community Health Northwest Florida (formerly ECC) provider team in 2017. She came onboard when Sacred Heart Hospital’s University of Florida residency program began providing physician coverage for CHNWF’s Fairfield Pediatric clinic.
Dr. Wilkinson graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Jackson, Mississippi. She is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Catholic Medical Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Wilkinson says the best thing about being a pediatrician is helping parents “grow” their children into happy, healthy human beings.
In her leisure, Dr. Wilkinson spends quality time with her family and grandchildren and is involved in many activities at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Tara Woodall, APRN, WHNP-BC has been serving as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner with Community Health Northwest Florida since January 2022. She earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University at Montgomery, and acquired postgraduate education from University of South Alabama, and completed her clinical residency at Augusta University Medical Center. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health-- and is a 5-star provider on Healthgrades!
Tara currently provides routine prenatal care, comprehensive gynecologic care and family planning services for women of all ages. She has a passion for helping adolescents with their first experience with reproductive health, health concerns, and preventive care.
Tara is active in her community, serving with her church's outreach program, volunteering as a mentor for teens in Milton as well as volunteering with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. For fun, Tara loves to travel, go to the beach, do Pilates, journal and volunteer.
