Athena Durant, CFE, MBA, MAcc, serves as Chief Financial Officer of Community Health Northwest Florida and Finance Director for the Community Health Northwest Florida Foundation Board. In these roles she provides executive oversight of the organization’s financial operations, including accounting, audit, treasury and corporate finance, while supporting the long-term fiscal stewardship of both the health center and its affiliated foundation.
Athena brings more than 15 years’ experience in financial and operational management, with deep expertise in federally qualified health center finance and healthcare administration. Since joining Community Health Northwest Florida in 2012, she has contributed strategic and operational leadership across a broad range of financial functions, working in close collaboration with executive leadership and management to strengthen organizational performance and sustainability.
A licensed Certified Fraud Examiner, Athena holds both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Columbia Southern University. Her professional background also includes experience in Clinical Documentation Improvement within Revenue Cycle Management and Accounting Technology Support for a leading cloud-based fund accounting software organization, further broadening her perspective in healthcare finance, systems, and operational effectiveness.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Athena is a member of Alpha Sigma Lambda, the nation’s oldest and largest honor society dedicated to adult learners who demonstrate academic excellence and leadership. She is also committed to community service through mentoring, teaching, and tutoring. In her personal time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and children and playing the electric guitar.
