Community Health Northwest Florida is pleased to announce the addition of Mammography to its scope of services. Beginning March 2, 2021, established Community Health patients will be able to access appointments for screening mammograms at its newly expanded imaging department, located at the health center’s main site at 2315 W. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women after skin cancer. Mammograms can detect breast cancer early, possibly before it has spread. Early detection of breast cancer with screening mammography means that treatment can be started earlier in the course of the disease.

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this life-saving screening for our patients, allowing us to detect any potential issues as early as possible. Especially for our low income and uninsured patients, access to mammograms is critical, as vulnerable populations bear a disproportionate burden of breast cancer mortality,” says Chandra Smiley, CEO of Community Health Northwest Florida.

Since 1992, Community Health Northwest Florida has served residents of Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties and surrounding areas. Since 2007, it has been the area’s only Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). A Florida Medicaid, Humana, Sunshine Health, Staywell and Simply Healthcare Medicaid managed care provider, the organization also accepts Alabama Medicaid at some locations and as well as many private health insurances. A sliding fee scale program for those individuals who do not have insurance coverage is offered to eligible patients.
